I've only ever been here for the dim sum, and I love it every time! People say, "it's pretty good for MN"... and, they're lying! It's darned good dim sum period! I mean, you get a legit dim sum experience. It's loud, it's busy, the food comes out in carts that are steaming and being rolled around by staff, and people are EATING WITH SMILES on their faces!

There is a good variety to pick from and the food is fresh and delicious. There are all the dumplings you can imagine, there's congee, fried foods, stewed chicken feet, tripe, I mean, they really don't hold back on culture. It's catered to people that love dim sum!

Note: it is a. it more expensive than dim sum in bigger cities.  still worth it!

Who says you need to go to a Chinatown for good dim sum in the US? And that you can't get authentic Chinese food in MN? This is by far one of my favorite Asian restaurant in MN! I've only had the dim sum here and I would recommend it any day! Wide variety of dishes to try and share! This is definitely a fun place to try something new as well as enjoy some of the classics! Everything here is made in house, super fresh and definitely good quality!

My favorites are the shrimp dumplings, egg tart, stuffed crab leg and pineapple buns!

Although it is usually a full house with the line going out the door- our party of 6 came here around 11:30am on a Sunday and got a table after just a 15 min wait. Everything else from there is super quick! If you don't see anything you want on the carts going around- make sure to ask! Our total was about $35 each which is actually pretty good and lower than we estimated. I'm already planning for my next trip here!

Tip- pay with cash or a Visa Credit card to avoid the 4% surcharge for using a credit card. Also they are willing to split the bill & tip is already included.

Still the best Chinese Restaurant this side of Beijing.
    See previous reviews.!
Having lived in the Twin Cities many years ago, this became my favorite Chinese Restaurant. Since moving away about 16 years ago we try to visit it any time we go to Twin Cities and have never been disappointed.
Just had a meal there and it was phenomenal -- best Peking Duck since Shanghai, great Hong Kong crab, .....
Highly Recommend a visit .. and don't just stick to the American-Chinese dishes but try some of the great authentic Chinese offerings.

Very good to average Asian food, but if your looking for interesting, this is the place. This food is perfect good, but crazy to Western taste. Just take a look at the menu. Dim Sum is the interesting dining experience. You have to try it.

This review is for Mandarin Kitchen's dinner experience not their dim sum option (see my other review).

Anyways, I want to get authentic Chinese food for the lunar new year so I narrowed my search down to Mandarin Kitchen.  It turned out to be a wonderful satisfying night.  Here's what we ordered:

Sauteed pea shoots.  A must get for any sit down Chinese meal and Mandarin Kitchen cooked it right.  Could've used a little more garlic but still tasty.

Roasted duck.  Moist duck meat and semi crispy skin.  The duck was super flavorful.

Stir fried pork, chicken and shrimp with scallions.  I don't remember the exact name of this dish but that's the description!  The dish is cooked in the same sauce as beef lo mein.  My waiter recommended this to us and it was on point.  We took some of this home and needless to say I was excited to eat it the next day.

Steamed oysters.  My family always ordered this for special occasions and Mandarin Kitchen did a great job on it.  It is somewhat pricey but it's worth it for seafood lovers.  Garnished with fresh scallions and ginger.

I would recommend Mandarin Kitchen for anyone looking for an authentic Chinese meal.  The waiters are friendlier than most Chinese establishments.  They actually checked to make sure our water were refilled.
